Flamingo Fever

Untitled #35
1/2/3/4/5/6/7

Flamingos are popping up everywhere and I am loving it.

Seems they are going to be playing a big role this spring and summer.

They're pink, happy, and make me think of the zoo or summertime.

Not sure why they make me think of summertime. Maybe because they live in a tropical climate...I don't know.

Seriously, I am dying for the Tory Burch iPhone case.

It's such a fun, girly print.

Kind of jumping on the flamingo band wagon.

I even like a couple of good flamingos in a house.

And if you're just REALLY crazy about flamingos, you can turn your baby into one.

I am loving the flamingo craze and hope to add one or two to my house soon.

Are y'all loving flamingos too?

Fabulous Finds at Old Navy and Target

Untitled #33

Once again, I'm having awesome luck at Old Navy and Target.

I got all three tops and the dress from Old Navy.

They recently got in spring colors of their very popular Oxford shirts.

I got black and neon yellow-y/green.

I already have a neon pink one that I wear all the time.

I plan on wearing the polka dot denim top with a lot of colored jeans in the spring.

An Old Navy sales person told me that their jeans will be going on sale on Thursday.

They have great colors for spring in right now.

There was a periwinkle pair that I was obsessed with but my legs aren't exactly ready for bright colors. Don't want to draw attention to them.

I got the polka dot dress a few weeks ago but hadn't worn it because I thought it needed to be belted.

Target has always has a great selection of belts. I found the neon belt and thought it would be perfect with the Old Navy polka dot dress.

I have never had a pair of nude pumps but they have become a required staple.

I found this pair at Target and my problem was solved!

I love that I have bought a few basics that will carry me through the end of winter and the crazy weather we've been having in the South lately.

Happy Shopping!

Holiday Gift Guide - The Man in Your Life

man shopping guide

1. Ugg Ascot Slippers - Who doesn't want their feet wrapped in fleece? I've gotten these for every male member of Cam's family.
2. Sephora Shave Sampler for Him - Any type of Sephora sampler is a no brainer for me. The package comes with Sephora's top products for shaving and a gift certificate for your guy to pick his favorite product.
3. Jon Hart Money Clip - It may seem small but it holds a lot of cards and is way more comfortable to sit on than a wallet. Cam loves his.
4. Fiero Grilling Kit - Our cheap grill tools are constantly falling apart. This nice kit is stainless steel and will store nicely under a grill.
5. Breaking Bad Season One -  Crazy, intense show. But SO good.
6. Jack Black Collection Gift Set -  Fabulous shave stuff!
7. Apple TV - Gift for you and the man in your life :)
8. Barbour Beaufort Jacket -  Classic. What British Royalty has always worn. If it's good enough for Kate & Will well...
9. National Geographic Subscription -  My Dad is an avid Nat Geo reader and now I have turned Cameron onto it. Really cheap gift that will ensure some interesting dinner convos.
10. Microbrewery of the Month Club -  Gave this to Cam while he lived in California. He is still talking about this gift. Plus, you will always have a new and cool drink for guests.
11. Wild Abundance Cookbook -  Great cookbook for the outdoorsmen or wannabe chef in your life.
12. Onward Reserve Gift Card - One stop shopping for ANY of the great guys in your life! Perfect gift for a hard to buy for father-in-law or a great stocking stuffer!

I hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! I sure did!

For the next few days I will be posting my holiday gift guides.

Hope you enjoy them!

Wild about Old Navy

Untitled #12

1/2/3/4/5/6/7

Old Navy is really stepping up their game. For years I wouldn't even bother going in there. Now it's almost one stop shopping.

I scored big time on basics this week at Old Navy.

I got a few pieces that I can mix, match, and layer with other pieces.

You HAVE to check out the Rockstar Super Skinny Jeans.

They are regularly $34.94 but they are marked down to $19.

They are SUPER skinny though.
If you are ordering online, I would order your normal pants size and then another pair a size up just to be safe.

Def try them on if you are shopping in the store.

Also, I did not purchase the leopard tunic but I got in the cardigan version which is not available online instead.
Super cute though.

So happy to have a few basics for this beautiful fall weather.

Even though it almost got up to 90 degrees yesterday, I am choosing to ignore that.

Cape it up

Untitled #9

Black with white detail/Off the shoulder striped poncho/Purple wool cape
Green plaid poncho/Faux fur jacket/Black and white plaid poncho/Printed cape

Y'all. I want a cape.

I know that the fur jacket is not technically a cape or poncho but I do not care.

I also know it's a bazillion degrees outside and I am already thinking about my fall wardrobe.

They are loose, comfy, and can be dressed up or down.

You can wear them anywhere.
Grocery Store, Football Games, Out to dinner...

AND...

You can wear them with a lot of different things

For instance, I plan on wearing my hypothetical poncho with leather leggings and ankle boots.

For a more casual look, you could wear jeans and flats or flat boots.

This look is PERFECT for the holidays when my pants are usually a BIT lot too tight :)

Just throw on a cape or poncho and unbutton your pants.

Voila!

Hangout Hippies

A lot of people find it very strange that I am such a girly girl and lover of the nicer things in life but I have this inner hippie side of me. I'll admit that it's not normal to go to Turks and Caicos for one week of your honeymoon and then to Oregon to camp in the woods for a 4 day music festival for the second week.

But I love it.

And you know who else loves it?
The two most important men in my life. My precious father and my darling husband.
So I'm in good company.

Those two love a jam band.

I love channeling my inner hippie and kind of being a different person for a little while.
I get to dress like Kate Hudson in Almost Famous, listen to music for a few days, and just kind of detach from society for a little bit.

Rothbury 2008 - Rothbury, Michigan

Winter Carnival 2011 - Broomfield, Colorado

Wanee Music Festival 2010 - Live Oak, Florida
left that one early to make it to our Engagement Party in Waycross

Bonnaroo 2011 -  Manchester, Tennessee
Even my sister likes it!

The Dead 2009 - Los Angeles, California

Horning's Hideout 2010 - Right outside of Portland, Oregon
2nd week of our honeymoon

Think I look silly? I promise you, Cameron and I are ALWAYS the most normal looking people there.
Best people watching ever!

Ok, now to the point of this post. Cam and I are going to the Hangout Music Festival this weekend. I am so pumped. Cam's all-time fave band The String Cheese Incident is playing two sets. They are quickly becoming my favorite too. Oh and Dave Matthews Band is headlining!!!!!!!

If you like Dave, I highly recommend going to see him at a festival like the Hangout. You don't have to camp, you're on the beach, and you have the chance to see DMB up close and personal for a great price! You would spend a fortune on tickets to see him this close anywhere else.

I have a few helpful hints for the first-timers.

Don't wear a romper. I've made this mistake. I was trying to be cute and stylish at Wanee. Rompers and portapotties don't mix. You don't want to have to take the romper completely off every time you need to go to the restroom. The chances of another person accidentally opening the door and seeing you almost naked are VERY great.

Throw some hand sanitizer in your bag. Portapotties are disgusting. You will be eating with your hands. Bring hand sanitizer!!!!!!

Drink water during the day. My dad says to drink a bottle of water every hour until near dusk and "the first Corona will never taste better."
Most people are there to see the headliners. Don't have too much fun during the day. It's very tempting to over do it early on. The sun will exhaust you more than you will realize at the time. You don't want to get dehydrated, get sick, and have to miss the bands you came to see.

Wear a bathing suit or clothes that dry quickly. It's going to get hot. You are going to want to get in the ocean or pour water on yourself.

Here's are my Hangout essentials if I had thousands of dollars to spend on hippie apparel:

Mad Men Obsessed

I love everything about Mad Men. The show is moving well on into the 1960's now and I am obsessed. I love the clothing, decor, jewelry, and especially Don Draper.

I'm not one to lust over guys but he is SO fine. Kind of not a good person on the show but SO fine.

Some of my fav Betty Draper looks

I think that I would have enjoyed living in this era except for the whole "man controlling my life" thing. Other than that I would have fit right in! I wouldn't say that I have a set style when it comes to clothing. But the shapes and fit of "retro dresses" tend to look better on me than more modern cuts. Piperlime is one of my go-to sites when I'm in need of an outfit. Here is one Mad Men inspired outfit that I put together from Piperlime that I would die to add to my closet! I think adding a nude pump would made this a perfect Easter outfit.
Welcome to Polyvore!
Dress-Trina Turk, Earrings-Sabine, Bracelet-Tinley Road, Shoes-Steve Madden

These vintage glasses from Etsy are so "Don Draper having a cocktail in the middle of the day in his office". They would be the perfect addition to any bar cart.

Here we go! Yes, please! Vintage 1960's earrings from eBay. Just a tad bit over my budget.

Here is a slightly more affordable retro earring from Baublebar. Adding them to my wishlist right now.

You could pair either of them with this Milly dress for a modernized Mad Men look.

I can't wait to see how this season of Mad Men unfolds. Until then, I'm off to channel my inner Betty Draper. But a nicer, sweeter version that Don will like.
